Advocacy Support Service

Co. Longford Citizens Information Service (C.I.S.) now has a professional advocacy service available to assist people with disabilities in the county to access services relevant to their individual needs, such as health, housing, social welfare, education/training etc. It is a free, independent, confidential and impartial service and is available on a one-to-one basis.

A professional Advocate, Andrea Reynolds, who, based on an understanding of a client’s needs, can advise and support clients in order to make their own decisions, claim an entitlement, or take a course of action and, she will then, if appropriate, go on to negotiate or make a case on a client’s behalf.

MESA

MESA provides a Supported Employment Programme for people with Disabilities in the Midlands.

We provide a service to people with a mental, physical, sensory or intellectual disability in the midlands, and are supported by FAS, to access mainstream employment both full and part time depending on individual choice and ability. Cross Care Migrant Project

  • Cross Care Migrant Project has published a series of books aimed at helping people who plan to relocate to Canada, Australia, the USA and the UK.

If you are planning to relocate to one of the countries mentioned above, the books will provide basic information which will help you on your way. They are free of charge and available at Longford CIC.

INOU - The Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed

Published 19th edition of its WORKING FOR WORK. This booklet provides information on welfare, work, education and training options for unemployed people. It provides information on:

  • organisations

A limited number are available and Free of charge at Longford CIC.
